Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Warehouse Technician is to be part of the team responding to the operational requirements of a hire and events business, delivering equipment to the company prescribed standards, shipping/receiving of orders, quality control, inventory control and other warehouse related logistics tasks.
The role holder will be part of the warehouse team who will collectively help transform and maintain the warehouse and logistic services into a unit of business excellence. The team will ensure the company’s contractual and other objectives are met in terms of productivity and quality of hire assets. The role holder will contribute to continual performance improvement.
This is a key role in the hire business. All team activities will be supported and directed by the Warehouse Supervisors and/or the Warehouse Delivery Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Inbound/Outbound Order Processing
- Accurately receive, relocate and pick product from inventory locations. Pack orders efficiently and accurately for delivery to site and/or other warehouses.
- Perform Quality Control (QC) procedures, presentation of equipment and inventory control.
- Clean, test, maintain, prepare, repair equipment prior to picking.
- Load and unload equipment to and from trucks, vans and other logistics means.
- Fault find and repair equipment, keeping equipment under repair to a minimum.
- Notify Warehouse Supervisor of any defective equipment, and arrange maintenance/repair schedule.
Logistics and Transportation:
- Prepare and process contracts to ship from small parcel to projects requiring specialist preparation.
- Travel to support SLX customers and equipment on location, and also assist with building and/or dismantling events with the Live Events team when required.
- Ability to operate manual handling devices, Pallet trucks, powered forklifts Etc.
- Be prepared to drive company vehicles and make deliveries.
Safety:
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Report all health and safety issues to the Warehouse Supervisors or senior management.
- Participate in safety team initiatives.
- Perform daily checklists on your work environment.
Warehouse Housekeeping:
- Clean and maintain a safe work area.
- Maintain test equipment and tools in accordance to their use and service plans.
Customer Service:
- Ensure the highest standards of service, while maintaining operation efficiency and a cohesive relationship with other departments, customers and suppliers.
- Build and maintain a working knowledge of equipment.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- GCSE in Mathematics and English.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in warehouse environment.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Ability to lift over 20Kg independently.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication skills with other team members.
- Organisational skills with an attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task while working in a fast paced environment.
- Basic computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office.
- Experience operating industrial forklift equipment.
